Here's
the procedure:
-
Fill out this form to let us know what books, DVDs,
etc. you like, and what days and times work best for
you to pick them up. Please allow some time
for our staff to work on your request.
Turnaround time for requests during normal business
hours can take 24-48 hours depending upon staffing
and the level of detail involved in your requests.
CURBSIDE
PICKUP SELECTION FORM
-
We'll pull books, etc. based upon your preferences.
If you request a specific item and we do not have
it, our
librarian staff will place a hold on that specific
item and/or do their best to find some
alternate materials for you. Please note: If you are looking for a
newer title, please place a hold in the
Online Library Catalog.
-
We'll call you to give you a day/time to pick up the material.
-
Your material will be placed in a bag (along
with a date due slip) and
set either on a table in our east parking lot (by the Book
Drop/Church) or in our lobby with your initials and the last four
digits of your phone number as well as your pickup
date and time marked on the
bag.
-
Please come at your designated time and pick your
selections up!
Now, to
answer some questions you may have:
How long does it typically take to fill my curbside
request?
The normal turnaround time to fill a request can be 24-48
hours. Please allow our staff some time to work on
your request. If your request is time sensitive or
if you are specifically requesting new materials, please
give us a call during normal business hours: Monday -
Thursday between 9:30am and 9pm and Friday - Saturday
between 9:30am and 5pm. Please call 516-766-2360,
dial 0 for the Front Desk or 4 for the Information
Desk.
Can I
get a specific item?
It’s possible! Please ask for a specific title and if
we have it, we'll be happy to check it out for you! At
any given time, many
materials (especially newer ones) may either be checked out or in
quarantine but the Nassau Library System's interloan
system is up and running so we can get items from
another library if necessary. Please
provide some alternate suggestions just in case we do
not have exactly what you're looking for.
Can I continue to place holds in the
Online Library Catalog?
Yes! If you are looking for a newer title, or any
title, please place that hold!
When I place a hold in the
Online Library Catalog,
will I be notified by the Library when it comes in?
Yes, you will. Even though the Nassau Library
System has started sending out notices, staff will be
getting in touch with you to set up a curbside pickup
appointment. We wouldn't want you to show up without
your materials being ready for you to pick up!
I know
someone who doesn't have internet access. How can they
order materials?
You may call the Library Monday - Thursday between
9:30am and 9pm and Friday - Saturday between 9:30am and
5pm. Please call 516-766-2360, dial 0 for the
Front Desk or 4 for the Information Desk.
Are
the materials safe?
The American Library Association recommends, based
on CDC guidelines, that we quarantine all material for
48 hours before lending them out. The Nassau Library
System is recommending 72 hours. We are quarantining all
returned library material for a minimum of ONE WEEK which is far in excess of even the most
cautious of recommendations.
I want
a book! Maybe 3 books! And a DVD! And
a CD! And an audiobook! How long can I keep
them for?
A receipt will
be included with your materials showing their due dates.
If you need to hold on to an item for a little bit
longer, that's ok. We are not charging fines at
this time. If you have any questions regarding due dates, please
call us during library hours or
email us.
What
about the materials I have currently checked out?
Our Book Drop
continues to be open Monday - Thursday
9am - 9pm and Friday - Saturday 9am - 5pm. If you would like
to return your library materials, please feel free to do
so! All fines are waived and will continue
to be for the foreseeable future but please try and
return items when you are finished with them so they can
move on to their next destination!
So I have
some more questions, what should I do?
You can either chat with a librarian on our website
during normal business hours (return to our homepage and
look for the bubble in the lower right corner!) or you can
call the library (516-766-2360, option 0 for the Front
Desk
or option 4 for the Information Desk) or
email us and
we'll be happy to answer them. We know we can count on your
patience and support!
