The Oceanside Library offers "Ask A Librarian" e-mail service to Oceanside residents.  We will normally respond to your question within 48 hours of its submission (excluding weekends).  We can provide answers to factual reference questions or suggest sources which might help answer your question.  Please read all of the guidelines carefully before submitting a query.

If you require immediate assistance or have a lengthy query, please come into the library during business hours or call the Reference Desk at
766-2360, ext. 370.
  • Use Library Query as your subject heading.
  • The "Ask A Librarian" e-mail service cannot provide answers for questions of a legal, financial, or medical nature.
  • The "Ask A Librarian" e-mail service cannot place reserves for materials or do shelf checks via e-mail.
  • You MUST include your Oceanside Library barcode number within the text of your message.  It is the 14 digit number on your library card.
  • This service is only available to residents of the Oceanside (NY) School District.
  • Please remember to include your name, e-mail address, phone number (if a callback is necessary), and "not needed after" information in your message.

Live Librarian is a service provided to District residents by the Nassau Library System.  Live Librarian is designed to answer basic reference questions and is available from 5-9PM on Sundays and 9-11PM Monday through Thursday.  The service enables real-time communication with a Reference Librarian who can assist you with your Internet search or questions regarding the use of electronic resources.  Please note that the service does not provide technical computer support or legal, medical, or financial advice.
