Community Resource Database
- This computerized directory profiles more than 11,000 community services and resources available in the Long Island area. It provides individuals and organizations with easy access to current information about health, human service and education agencies and programs.

Informe (Revistas en Espanol) (NOVEL) - A database that indexes information from popular Hispanic magazines. There is a mix of English and Spanish in this database. The "Keyword" search screen is in English, while the "Advanced" search screen offers some search assistance in Spanish. Most of the "Subject Guide" is in Spanish. Medline Plus Health Information - MEDLINE Plus offers current and accurate health care information from the National Library of Medicine at the National Institutes of Health.

NetLibrary - This database is a collection of online books (e-books) and resource materials. Using NetLibrary, you can access a wide range of scholarly and reference materials entirely online. You must create an account on a computer in the library before the collection can be accessed from home.

New Book of Popular Science - This science encyclopedia is divided into searchable or browsable sections: SciClopedia, Newsbytes, Projects, Biographies, SciZone, SciFiles, SkyWatch, and Ask PopSci.

New York Online Access to Health (NOAH) - This database is a bi-lingual source of health and consumer information including references to regional community resources and support groups.

Newsday - The Newsday database is now part of ProQuest.  You can still search for Newsday articles and headlines back to 1985.  Most articles are full text. Updated daily.  NOTE: To access this database, you must log in to ProQuest using your barcode, click on "More Search Options", and input Newsday as the publication title.

Newsletters ASAP

Newspaper Source provides selected full text for 25 national (U.S.) and international newspapers. Play Finder - Provides access to 1,000+ complete plays. Although international in scope, all are in English or English translations. Database can be searched by subject, title, or playwright.

Poem Finder - Contains 85,000+ full-text poems, 800,000+ poem citations and excerpts, a subject navigator, listings for the year's best poetry (New Poems), Kids' Korner section as well as explanations, biographies and pictures.  It is international in scope, and covers poetry from antiquity to the present.

Points of View Ref. Center (EBSCOhost Web) - Features a series of essays representing opposing viewpoints on a variety of important issues.  Each article contains full-text content pertaining to hundreds of topics, each with an overview (objective background/description), point (affirmative argument) and counterpoint (opposing argument). ProQuest - Offers access to 1,800+ newspapers, periodicals, and academic journals.  Includes coverage of many national newspapers, such as The Washington Post, Newsday, The Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune, Barron's, USA Today, The New York Times (full-text 90 days), and The Wall Street Journal (full-text back to 1989).

ProQuest Historical Newspapers - The New York Times (1851-2001) - This database offers full page and article images with searchable full text back to the first issue. Includes digital reproductions providing access to every page from every available issue.

Reference USA - Reference USA contains three sets of information: Business Data, Residential Data, and Health Care Data.  Business Data contains detailed directory information for 12 million+ U.S. Public and Private businesses.  Residential Data contains names, addresses, and phone numbers for 102 million+ U.S. households.  Health Care Data contains names, addresses, phone numbers, as well as practice and credential information for 683,000+ health care providers.  Newly added in July 2005: Business and Residential Data for Canada.  NOTE: If you are having difficulty accessing this database from home, please refer to the extensive Reference USA help page for suggestions on how to correct the problem.

TumbleBooks - TumbleBooks are created by taking existing picture books, adding animation, sound, music and narration to produce an electronic picture book which you can read, or have read to you.  You can access TumbleBooks from the library or from home.
