REGISTRATION GUIDELINES

Residents of the Oceanside School District are given priority for our programs.  In-person registration begins at 7pm.  The Library reserves the right to limit the number of tickets given to any one person.  Fees are nonrefundable.  To secure a place in a program, patrons must pay (cash only) within three days of registering, or we will contact the next person on the waiting list.  Out-of-district patrons may begin registering on the fourth day after in-person registration.  Proof of age is required.

PLAYAWAY LAUNCHPADS HAVE LANDED!
Playaway Launchpads
are now available for circulation to residents in the Oceanside Library district.  Children in Pre-K through Middle School will love these easy-to-use, durable tablets pre-loaded with high-quality secure learning apps and games.  Playaway Launchpads are grouped by subject area, theme, grade level, and age.  Subjects include Math, Science, English Language Arts, and more.  Please inquire about these exciting educational items in the Children's Department.  Check one out today!

The Right Bite Food Craft (Grades 2-6)

Learn to choose healthy food and make a small edible arrangement.  Caregiver must remain in the Children’s Room.

Spring Craft (Grades K-6)

Bring in spring by decorating and planting seeds to make your own silly “planter pal”.  Caregiver must remain in the Children’s Room.

Parent/Child Book Discussion With Pizza (Grades 4-6)
Tuesday, March 21 // 6:30pm

Parents and children read the same book at home, Wonder by R.J. Palacio, then come to the library to participate in a book discussion together with Miss Mariel over pizza.  Copies of this book will be available in the Children’s Room.  Caregiver must attend.

 

Join Jeanne Hall at this early literacy program which showcases nursery rhymes and music.  Caregivers must attend.

Foster a love for reading while exploring food with your little one.  Join Tara, certified Language Arts teacher, to enjoy a story and craft while learning the benefits of eating healthy.  What better way to connect to a story, than through food? Perfect for picky eaters.  Caregiver must attend.

Fourth Annual Dr. Seuss Birthday Bash

Children of all ages will enjoy an afternoon of arts and crafts, balloons, movies, and lots and lots of books as we celebrate the birthday of our beloved Dr. Seuss.  Sponsored by The Kiwanis Club of Oceanside.
  No registration necessary.
 

Sensory Friendly Films
We are pleased to offer these movies under “Sensory Friendly” conditions, as a special opportunity for families to enjoy a film in a safe and accepting environment.  We’ll keep the lights slightly up and the sound turned slightly down.  Our policies regarding quiet and remaining in one’s seat will not be enforced unless the safety of the audience is in question.  Come relax and enjoy family time without worrying if someone will complain or be disturbed by noise or movement.  A caregiver must remain in the room at all times.

Full Steam Ahead: Leprechaun Trap (Grades 2-6)
Thursday, March 16 // 4:30pm

Marshmallow Shamrock Stamping and (STEAM) Leprechaun Trap.  Can you catch a Leprechaun?  Join Ms. Ilene for a building activity that will stretch the imagination and perhaps catch a wee leprechaun.  Caregiver must remain in the Children’s Room.

 

Children love this total immersion program that teaches colors, numbers, and short phrases in Spanish.  Caregiver must remain in the Children’s Room.

Chocolate Covered Shamrocks

3D Printer Demo

Learn the fundamentals of a 3D printer and how to load the files to print objects.  Pre-printed objects will be on display.

 

Join our yoga master, MaryClare, for a fun-filled class that teaches relaxation and breathing methods as well as many yoga poses.  Please wear loose-fitting clothes and bring a yoga mat or towel.  Caregiver must remain in the building.

The Internet is available in the Children's Room to holders of children's library cards in good standing.  Written parental consent is required.  Permission forms may be obtained at the Children's Reference Desk and will be kept on record there.  The library assumes no responsibility for Internet content, quality, accuracy, or currency.  It is important for parents to be aware that the Internet may contain material of a controversial nature.  Therefore, it is the parent's responsibility to monitor their children's selections.

TumbleBooks Library
TumbleBooks are created by taking existing picture books, adding animation, sound, music and narration to produce an electronic picture book which you can read, or have read to you.  You can access TumbleBooks from the library or from home.
