Explore ‘A Universe of Stories’ with the myON digital library
As part of Summer Reading at New York Libraries, the State Education Department and myON ®, by Renaissance ®, are partnering to bring thousands of enhanced digital books to children from birth through 12th grade and their families all around the state!

When: May 1 through September 30, 2019
What’s available:
-- Unlimited, 24/7 access to the Renaissance myON ® digital library, which includes more than 6,000 authentic fiction and nonfiction texts covering a broad range of themes and topics
-- Flexible supports professionally recorded audio, text highlighting, an embedded dictionary, and a zoom feature to support independent reading
-- Resources and tips to support meaningful summer reading experiences

The myON digital library and its special features can be accessed online from any web-enabled device. Up to 20 books at a time can be downloaded to read offline whenever Wi-Fi isn’t available.

PLAYAWAY LAUNCHPADS
Playaway Launchpads
are available for circulation to residents in the Oceanside Library district once you sign a loan agreement (available at the Circulation Desk).  Children in Pre-K through Middle School will love these easy-to-use, durable tablets pre-loaded with high-quality secure learning apps and games.  Playaway Launchpads are grouped by subject area, theme, grade level, and age.  Subjects include Math, Science, English Language Arts, and more.  Please inquire about these exciting educational items in the Children's Department.  Check one out today!  Limit of one per household please.

Sensory Friendly Films
We are pleased to offer these movies under “Sensory Friendly” conditions, as a special opportunity for families to enjoy a film in a safe and accepting environment.  We’ll keep the lights slightly up and the sound turned slightly down.  Our policies regarding quiet and remaining in one’s seat will not be enforced unless the safety of the audience is in question.  Come relax and enjoy family time without worrying if someone will complain or be disturbed by noise or movement.  A caregiver must remain in the room at all times.
